Board and Calendar Meeting 8/21

I.     Call to order

Adrien Dessens called to order the Board and Calendar meeting of the Gulf Coast Division at 3:05 pm on August 21, 2021, on Zoom.

II.     Roll call

Liz Mayerich conducted a roll call. The following persons were present:

·       Adrien Dessens, Chair

·       Maggie Newell, Vice Chair

·       Liz Mayerich, Secretary

·       Chuck Wemple, Treasurer

·       Susie Grace, Armorer

·       Louise Lepie, Bayou City Fencing Academy (also representing Spirit of Youth)

·       Robert Towster, Bayou City Fencing Academy (alternate)

·       John Trojanowski, Galveston Fencing Club (also representing League City, Alvin, Deer Park, Rogue)

·       Kathy Machol, Galveston Fencing Club (alternate)

·       Sylvia Brandt, Dragon Heart Fencing Academy

·       Daniel Gorman, Houston Sword Sports

III.     New Business

a)           Committees – The division has three existing committees, led by a relevant officer. Other officers and any other interested people can participate in the committees. The committees are:

1.            Operations Manual, led by Adrien Dessens

2.            Website and communication, led by Liz Mayerich

3.            Fundraising, led by Chuck Wemple

b)           Calendar – The calendar for the 2021-22 year was filled in, minus dates from Alliance Fencing Academy and Salle Mauro Fencing Academy. The events include JO and Division Qualifiers, Division Board Meetings, and smaller tournaments.

c)            Other Business – The board discussed holding referee and coaching clinics, with the decision to host a referee clinic in the Spring. The division will also assist in amplifying any coaching clinics that member clubs may choose to host.

IV.     Adjournment

Adrien Dessens adjourned the meeting at 3:55.
